Charity begins at home this autumn for local estate agent

A SOMERSET and Dorset-based estate agent which has an office in Wells is supporting the charity Help for Homeless with their November Nights initiative.

“Whilst our team works to match buyers with their new homes and rentals on a daily basis, we’re always looking for ways to help the communities we work in,” said Sue Macey, Managing Partner of Lodestone Property.

“Helping to raise awareness of the great work Help for Homeless does to support those who aren’t fortunate enough to have a home is really fitting and something we are proud to donate to.”

Run from the village of Babcary and founded by Iona White, the charity is fuelled by a team of dedicated volunteers and has become a lifeline for those grappling with homelessness in Bristol, Bath, Yeovil, and Taunton.

Every week, the team embarks on four nights of service, providing not only the opportunity of a welcome chat, but essentials like clothes, toiletries, and bedding – as well as warm meals freshly prepared in their own commercial kitchen. Local businesses, like Hunts Supermarket and Lievto Bakery, play a significant role as food donors.

This November Help the Homeless are encouraging local households to host a supper party for 6-8 people and charge guests £30, which is donated to the charity and eligible for Gift Aid.

“When the supper party is organised raffle tickets are being shared to sell on the night and also our Christmas cards for this year,” said Iona.

“It’s a great way to get friends together, remember how fortunate we are to have dinner around a table, and help those who aren’t, whilst having a great evening.”
