Hundreds visit Wells Christmas Market

WELLS embraced the magic of the season as its annual Christmas Market attracted hundreds of visitors.

The market, held on Saturday, December 16, showcased more than 100 stalls, offering an extensive array of food, drink and unique gifts.

There was live music from The Grey Dogs jazz band and Martin on the trumpet.

Councillor Federica Smith-Roberts, Lead Member for Communities, Housing and Culture, said: “My family and I enjoyed visiting Wells this weekend. It was an honour to open the Christmas Market with Wells Town Crier, Len Sweales.

“It was wonderful witnessing so many people embracing all that the city has to offer. The market is a showcase of local talent and creativity and is a reflection of Wells’ vibrant community spirit.

“A big thank you goes all the local businesses, the Diocese of Bath and Wells, The Bishop’s Palace, the Chamber of Commerce, the city council as well as Somerset Council officers and our traders for their support in making this market a success.

“On behalf of everyone at Somerset Council, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.” Wells Christmas Market is organised by the Mendip Markets team at Somerset Council.
