Success for Wells Cathedral School’s class of 2025

WELLS Cathedral School has announced another year of excellent A-level results, with pupils achieving outstanding outcomes across a variety of subjects.

These results, the school says, are a testament to the dedication and hard work of the pupils, as well as the unwavering support and guidance from teaching staff and parents.

Pupils have been celebrating their success across the range of subjects that are offered at Wells Cathedral School, from sciences to the humanities and to the creative arts.

Overall, the percentage of pupils achieving grades A* to C stands at 83 per cent, with more than a third of pupils achieving A*-A grades, which is above the national average in England.

Alastair Tighe, Head Master, said: “We are all extremely proud of the achievements of our departing Upper Sixth and delighted to be celebrating their A-level success today. As always, their achievements are a result of individual hard work and determination coupled with the support of our exceptional teaching and pastoral staff, as well as pupils’ own parents and families.

“Moreover, they have done all this alongside brilliant achievements in so many other areas of school life, including Music, Sport, Drama, Dance, Outdoor Learning and so much more. We are excited for them as they head off on the next chapter of their lives, and delighted that they leave us as such well-rounded, successful and aspiring young people. We wish them all the very best for the future.”

Sally Rowley, Head of Sixth Form added: “I am delighted that our pupils have not only excelled in their A-levels but have also secured places in a huge range of prestigious institutions. On top of that, the courses they will be studying are spectacularly diverse ranging from Maths to Philosophy to Marine Biology.”

Destinations include Oxford, Durham, UCL, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music, with pupils studying a range of subjects from Natural Sciences to Music, Mathematics and Philosophy to Fashion Journalism.

Natalie Perry (Deputy Head Academic) said: “Today we celebrate the A-level results achieved by our pupils. Their commitment to their studies, coupled with the personalised guidance they received from their teachers, has enabled them to secure places at leading universities and pursue diverse, inspiring career paths. We couldn’t be more delighted to see them progress with such confidence and capability, ready to make a significant impact on the world.”
